Lean Project Management takes a much more collaborative approach in which designers and contractors coordinate to develop plans, evaluate costs, and seek opportunities to create value and minimize waste. This allows the teams to take advantage of each other's specific skills and spend far less time in rework and pointless communication loops.

CPM decided to apply Lean Project Management principles in the planning and execution of fourteen projects for the Vacaville Unified School District. These would become the most successful projects in the history of Vacaville's building program, with no claims, disputes, cost overruns, or missed completion deadlines in the face of significant challenges. CPM is rapidly expanding and embracing Lean Project Management principles throughout its program/project management practice.
